SOAS + deferred entry

Hi everyone!

As you can see from my signature, I'm applying to Development Studies and Arabic, and Politics and Development Studies at SOAS (my true love), for entry in 2008. I haven't gotten any response, but no news is good news right? :p:

So anyway, I have recently decided that I wanted to defer my entry, so I'm considering going to email them, after and if I get the offers, to ask if it is possible to defer the entry, explaining to them my circumstances, and yes I do have reasons - not really stupid reasons either.

So, has anyone done this at SOAS? Has it worked? Or has anyone applied for 2009 straight and gotten offers, found they're more lenient or stricter, or heard stuff about SOAS concerning deferred entry?

Thanks

I found this on the SOAS website:

Can I change my year of entry?

There is not usually a problem allowing applicants to defer their place on a course to the following year. However, decisions on whether to allow applicants to change from a deferred year of entry to entry in the current year will depend on the availability of places and may not always be possible if a course is full. Requests to change year of entry should be made in writing to Vanessa Combeer, Undergraduate Admissions Officer ([email protected]).

I applied for deferred entry in October and got an offer for Japanese and Linguistics in November. However, I'm trying to un-defer : I've sent them emails and so on, phoned up and they said a couple of weeks ago "we'll get back to you by the end of [last week]", so if you want to change year of entry, do so ASAP!
