I've spent the last three years constantly getting drunk and high and I want to make up for it by working my arse off at uni, so I'm not sure that "amazing" is what I'm looking for. :p:

Right, I've got my application in, Queen Margaret is my first choice and Murano is in at second and third.

Can anyone suggest which residence would suit me best? My criteria:

-Needs to be cheap
-I'm not willing to share a room
-Suitable for a quieter person. I've lived in a notorious party residence before and hated it. I don't want to live with people who are keeping me up at 6am and setting off the fire alarm.
-On saying that, I don't want to live with people who never leave their rooms either. I do want to socialise.

Any ideas?
Hey, what about cairncross hall or student apparts?
big plus: it's close to the uni!
...but how's the condition of the rooms, and social life...?
With student apartments, you'll most likely have to share a room.

In Cairncross you may have to share too but there's a lot more single rooms.

Queen Mary first...cos I want self catered (even though I know I'm not gonna get it) and Munrano second. If I end up at Glasgow, I'll be doing Medicine and I'm gonna have to work my arse off. But actually a small part (i.e big) wishes that I won't get into Queen Mary.
Isn't Murano self-catered too? I thought the only catered one was Wolfson.
yeah you're right...wolfson hall is the only catered accommodation...

I meant catered, and I probably meant Wolfson.....It's been a tiring weekend.

So I've got my accom offer does anyone know whether we get any further information about our room, its silly things like do i need to bring duvet/pillows or are they provided seen as the halls are rented to the public during summer... and whats provided in the kitchen? maybe I'm being obsessive but I really cant wait and just want to get sorted ASAP! any help would be appreciated
There's a duvet and 2 pillows. The duvet's fine but the pillows can be dodgy (one of mine had a huge, disgusting stain on it ). I'm also fussy about pillows so I brought my own! There's also a bin and a desk lamp.

Appliance wise, kitchens have fridge (one for small flats, two for large), freezer (ditto), toaster and kettle. The contract says stuff about not being allowed electrical appliances but people have brought toastie makers, slow cookers, etc and not had any problems.

Good things to bring are plastic storage boxes that you fit under your bed - great for clothing like jeans - wardrobe space is limited! I also bought a plastic set of drawers from Woolworths for £10 when I arrived and use it for socks, underwear etc. Also bring hangers, you get 4 provided and Tesco will be sold out for ages!

Thanks muchly
Thank you Meltdown, I put hangars on my list
(I have said list in my calender and I have been adding things I will need on it whenever I think about them, so don`t feel obsessive x_Bex_x  )

I wont be able to bring plastic boxes and stuff like that, is there anything close by where I could get that stuff in the first few weeks?
There's a Tesco on Maryhill Road, about 5-10 minutes walk away. (I think it's closing for renovation at some point but I'm not sure when.)

Byres Road, near the university, has a Woolworths which has plastic boxes and other storage things.
Thank you!

Anyone here with QM offers?
Nope...I applied for there though...but then I heard it was dead boring and it was mostly for postgrad/mature students!

So I'm kinda hoping I get into Murano instead! =P

That was an "end of year party" thing, it's not always like that! (Thankfully, as some of us only do our exams tomorrow and were kept awake on Saturday night due to the partying!)

As for Ruchill Park, I'm guessing you didn't see the documentary on gangs in Glasgow and the ones that hang out there? :p:
