Can I get into University without GCSE English (Essential Skills)

Hi I am wondering if I can get into University without my English GCSE I only got grade D. However I have completed an English Essential skills level 2 which apparently is equivalent to a GCSE level. I am currently studying BTEC Business & Management Level 3 in College and the university course (management and leadership development) I want to apply for says I need at least DDM grade (9 Distinctions) in order to apply which I'll most likely get after I finish my BTEC level 3 however it also says I require at least grade C in maths & English GCSE but I don't have the English GCSE.
Usually a university will want the GCSE, but you're best contacting the universities you're interested in and asking them, as all will have different policies! :smile:
