I was looking around for ringtones to my new phone and filed in a registration form, I didn't even log on to my account, but they signed me up to a wallpaper package, the next day, 3 texts arrived, each of which charged £1.50. So effectively they stole £4.50 without my consent!

My brother got charged £9.00 for a ring tone aswell!

I don't want to provoke a dispute, I am just pissed off that they took money from me and I don't want any one else to experience that! To me it is a right to print money for them, taking £4.50 from every person they sign up, and doing so by text message so there is no way to block them!

Try getting this stuff using CDs and data cables. I've done it that way, cheaper.

I suggest you read their T&Cs, then start complaining if needs be. Don't take crap from them.

That's utterly disgusting. I hope some organisation, somewhere gets to ruin them with a humongous fine.

I was livid yesterday, and wrote them a letter, (just to let you know £10 credit usually lasts me a few weeks!) and i got the most un related reply ever!!!!!
    This is what I wrote!!!!
I was only looking at the jamster site, and got conned into
registering. I didn't even log on after the password was delivered and I
have been conned out of £4.50 for texts about jamster...I am livid and
will be writing to the press about it, as well as putting bad reviews on
the internet. I want my £4.50 back as i haven't even ordered anything or
I will be taking this matter further. You should be called conster instead
of Jamster and I have proof on my itemised bill that you have stolen my
money!!!!! I hope that this problem can be recified within the next 48
hours or I will be taking further action! Do not text me ever again, you
    may email.

Hi and thanks for your email,

We are writing to confirm the cancellation of your package to the end of
the month. Any unused credit can be used up to this date.

Please be aware that the monthly charge may appear on your mobile phone
bill as the mobile phone providers issue bills for the previous month.

    Kind regards,

    Your Customer Support ( 255 )

I think that they are from some other country... so they think that they have the write to con people!!! I mean it's a really clever idea, because a large percent of the population won't notice that the money was taken! I know it's probally my own fault for registering! I just wanted to warn others!!!!!

Oh and how do you get the cables to work? I have a nokia 7250i and a Dku-5... so it should work! only it doesn't grrrrrr

You could try being polite, that might help.

All these endless TV adverts of "Just 30p per tone" claims are complete nonsense because you can't just buy the one tone - they send you a certain number a month whether you want them or not. It sort of scrolls along the screen but it doesn't fully explain it so it's a bit misleading. Of course they want you to think you are just buying one ringtone but you're not at all.

But if you only want one tone from somewhere else they charge you £3 upwards anyway. It's all a big rip off. Why people will waste their money on ringtones instead of buying singles I'll never know
