Hi first time posting.
I'm at college studying towards a ba business management, the college are partnered with a university and I am studying a university level course.
My attendance is below 70% and they want me to come in for a disciplinary.
I'm a student of the uni, more than the college as enrolment was at the uni, as is all the agreements I signed. I can't see anything in their rules about attendance.
All lectures are uploaded online and I do watch them. The reason I haven't been attending has been a mix of health conditions, a funeral and I'm also running a business - I've only recently incorporated so there's a lot going on behind the scenes. The course wasn't very challenging at first which is why I went ahead and started the business.
My coursework is coming in at above 80 percent.
Last year, I studied a btec in enterprise and entrepreneurship and had low attendance (I was running a business that eventually ended up having to be wound down) but not as low as I do on this course. All of my coursework for that course came in at 100% - I was the highest achieving student on my course that year.
Anyway, with everything in mind, I'm wondering what advice fellow students would have? I don't need the qualification, I just want it but I may need it in the future. I like the idea of having a complete education in my field and at 24 years old, I need to get my backside into gear before it's too late. If I leave the course now (or I am kicked off the course), it'll be an empty seat for the remainder of the year and I'll save about 3k of tuition fees but I doubt I'll be able to bring my attendance back up given everything that's going on. I'm happy to continue with the course but attendance will remain a problem. It is only the first year, however.
Thanks in advance.
