Nuisance call from 09234 number

Hey there,

Just a quick question to ask if anyone has ever heard of the following number:

0923455675685

I've never come across a number beginning with 09 before! And I'm aware that the number is 2 digits too long to be a normal one!

As I've only had one call so far, I can't really call it a 'nuisance' call but still- it rang me at 4am this morning and woke me up, which I was furious about! I didn't pick up, firstly because I was so shocked at being vibrated awake at such a hideous time :p: and secondly because I have had a few calls in recent weeks from a number beginning 0808... which rang me once a day for a week, and I googled the number and found that it's a common nuisance call number.
After that, I registered my number with a website which apparently ensures that your number cannot be found by unauthorised people, thus eliminating all such calls- however, it did say it would take a month to be fully activated, and I think I only signed up for it about 3 weeks ago..

Anyway, I've googled the number that rang me last night/this morning and couldn't find anything, has anyone ever had the same one or similar phoning them?

Thanks!

09 are premium rate numbers.

Likely a scam - calling, and then hoping you'll call back.
Don't call it back whatever you do. Cost you an arm and a leg!

The list you've signed up for will only stop law-abiding companies calling you, and I am guessing, as this one has a premium rate number, didn't leave a message(?) and called at 4am, would be unlikely to check the TPS lists.

I just add numbers like that into my phone as "Do not answer."

I basically don't answer any number that I don't recognise or is withheld.
If it's important then they'll leave me a message.
Funnily enough most of them never do.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same. If you find that no one leaves a message, change your answer phone message to hint that they do (call you straight back) or something. For some reason, people are less likely to leave a message when it's an automated message they hear, rather than hear you talk.

But yeah, I never answer withheld numbers, rarely answer 01* numbers and often just text any 07* numbers that called me.

Thanks for the posts, yeah I thought it may have been a premium rate number of some kind, just really threw me that it had an extra 2 digits...very strange, never seen anything like it before! Oh well, if they ring again in the middle of the night I might pick up and tell them to ******* off  maybe that will stop them! Lol.

I wouldn't TBH. Chances are it will be a machine, and ask you to press a button (which will then start charging you).
