Worries about stress levels

I'm reduced to pretending I've got a U in the exam I took on Tuesday because I don't want to be disappointed with what I got, but even so I can't concentrate for the one ahead. I worked myself up half on purpose because I thought somehow I HAD to be nervous and that I didn't deserve to pass the test...anyway, I had a panic in the middle and now believe I've done even worse than everyone else in my class, since I couldn't write down what was in my head - I just wasn't sure, I was too frightened to take chances. Don't get me wrong, I answered everything. But I cry alot over stress and my exam results are getting me down so much. What can I do so I don't muck up on Friday and sort myself out for later?

Remind yourself that even if the one on Tuesday was an unmitigated disaster, it's better to fail just one exam than fail both. If you let stress over your performance on Tuesday interfere with the one on Friday you will kick yourself if you do badly in both. Get your head down and work your arse off for the next exam, it'll be over before you know it and you can relax afterwards. Stress-busting techniques - exercise, revise with a friend, lots of sleep, eat healthily, have a nice hot bath, revise in small chunks and take regular breaks, go over and over everything as many times as you possibly can so that even if you can't chant stuff off from memory, if you see something written down in the exam it may jog your memory.

I've got my exams just now. Once I've completed an exam I push it out of my head & refuse to talk to anyone about it. For the exams I'm about to do I think of it as me going into a room doing questions to proof I have a knowledge of the subject & that I learnt things in class, that way I'm not thinking of it as an exam & then it's not a big deal in my head and I don't get stressed. Worriying's a waste of enery when there's nothing you can do about it right that second. good luck with the rest of your exams and try doing what i do!

Thanks, I'm really worried though this will be a recurring thing in the summer, when resits aren't much of an option! (I'm lucky that it looks like I can resit pretty easily in June).

Hey there I got a U in one of my History as exams. A year later I got an A. Depends how much you want it. I suggest:

1) Reading around the subject
2) Read around the subject again taking down notes
3) Put notes in a good word processed format
4) Start writing practise questions for yourself
5) START EARLY!!!
6) Even 30 minutes an evening are better than nothing. That is hardly any time either.
7) Remember onces its done its over, you don't have to go back.
