Does anybody else have some really awful A Level teachers?

My Philosophy teacher throws sheets at us then complains that we don't understand. One of my English teachers doesn't know the difference between a Shakespearean 'ass' and an 'arse'. And one of my History teachers is such a moody cow that the entire class gets shouted at if anybody asks a question.

I thought A Level study was a step up - having a relationship with your teachers rather than a hierarchy in which they're on top.

Does anybody else have questionable teachers?

Hmm, mine weren't as bad as your teachers - my Business Economics teacher used to read from the textbook, I mean what's the point?! We might as well all go home and teach ourselves! She also used to swear out loud when she dropped something, hahaha. We just pretended not to hear her, but it was quite obvious when we were a class of 10 sitting in complete silence.

I'm afraid pretty much everyone has awful teachers, although it's all relative. I had teachers that simply didn't attempt to teach 80% of the time, I would have much preferred moody teachers :p:

My critical thinking/r.e teacher last year was nuts.
My maths teacher was a smart lady (maths degree from oxford) but unfortunately not a very good teacher.

That's about it.
My english and history teachers are amazing. My history teacher is probably the best teacher I've ever had, someone started a facebook appreciation group thingy for him. I don't currently have a business studies teacher (we have a new one but he failed to turn up at the beginning of term, my class' terrible reputation precedes us, obviously) so can't comment.

Yes.

Both my biology teachers can't teach for **** and we basically have to learn everything ourselves through books.

One of my maths teachers can't teach properly and always giggles to herself :/

One of my chemistry teachers.. he knows his stuff, but doesn't explain things well..
Other than that, the rest are fine.

Most of mine were quite good after the first few weeks when they try to eliminate the weak by being really harsh. After that they were nice, and the dodgy ones just became a talking point we could all enjoy!

EDIT: Actually, I just remembered one of the art teachers who ate pot noodle in class all the time and actually told her students that people with disabilities made her feel sick. Everyone hated her, but I didn't take art, so meh...

My History teacher doesnt turn up to 80% of my lessons, I teach myself now.

My Lit coursework teacher is as thick as two short planks

The rest of my teachers are brilliant

i do! i do! i do!
my english teacher is never in(pregnant) and when she is, shes alway buzy sorting stuff out for other people as shes teh head of english, so we spend our time reading the books and doing our coursework.
other teachers have already taken in the fisrt piece of cw and they're marking it but ours is still with us, well we haven't even got to the middle of it!

oh yeah and for some reasons my health&social care teacher hate my guts and keeps making rude comments to me. my mates are telling me to go to school counceller and tell her that this is affecting me(i'll spice things up a little bit) just to get back at her. i really want to it but i feel guilty though.

Loads of people do, but it shouldn't be used as an excuse to underperform. You are expected to learn most of the stuff in private study with teachers being used as 'guides' or people you can go to when you're stuck. It's a lot worse at uni since lectures are where most of your contact time is, and with a room of 100+ students, you'd expect someone to put their hand up and ask questions every once in a while. Not quite so :P.

last year i had 2 biology teachers who couldn't teach for beans...the stuff they did teach properly we later discovered wasnt on the sylabus, it was dropped several years previously! Then my timetable was messed up so my literature and PE lessons sometimes ran at the same time, meaning i missed about 1/2 of my lessons for those subjects! And then my history teacher had 3months off after surgery on his hand... I still got good grades, I can get into any of the universities i wanted to...I found that the poor teaching/situation i was placed in motivated me to push myself and teach myself the course! I was proud on results day knowing that what i had achieved i had worked for, Yeah you can blame your teachers, however at the end of the day as i have been told by my teachers, They don't care, they already have their qualifications and a job, they will not get sacked if you do badly. It doesn't affect them, if you want to go to a good uni, then it is you who will have to work to get yourself good results, the standard of teaching should not be blamed for your shortfalls!

I have many incompetent teachers in my school years but now, at A-Level, I have 2 out of 6 teachers who cannot teach at all. Problem is that one teaches me Physics, and the other Chemistry, both which are very difficult subjects.

So, to answer your question simply, yes.

Not this year, thankfully.

I've my fair share... but all you can do is get on with it and try your best. In the worst case scenario, if it's really necessary, complain... but that's about all you can do.

I've one maths teacher who is completely awful as she doesn't actually have a degree in mathematics, which is problematic to say the least, and so teaching is simply reading out of the book and doing worked out examples from the book (which she still struggles with).

I've also one chemistry teacher who on the one hand is great as we all have a great time in his class, and he really does know his stuff, but in lessons we don't learn much... so on the one hand I enjoy his lessons, but come the exams, I have to teach myself everything and go over things he has missed out. (But to be honest, despite the fact we don't learn much, I don't want to change him since at least everyone has fun and enjoys themselves and gets on very well with him... it could be worse after all, where we learn nothing but have an awful time as well)

I wouldn't actually mind about the maths teacher who isn't very good if I could skip her lessons and just teach myself the content as I have to do that as it is... but having to waste time in her lessons and still teach myself the content is a bit much tbh.

Most of my teachers are good except one of my human biology teachers who makes us all fall asleep and she doesn't teach us the most of what we need to know. oh also there is one of my psychology teachers who is getting on a bit (should have retired a few years ago, in my opinion) and she forgets what she has taught us or hasn't. I'm amazed she actually remembers to come to the room to teach us!

Like others said, everyone have awful teachers. We gotta learn to deal with a*****s too which is part of our education (sarcasm).

One of my Biology teachers is exactly the same. She's a nice enough person, but an abysmal teacher.

In the last class assessment, I got an E - second highest grade in a class of 20. My target grade is an A.

Oh yes, my old computing teacher was insane, used to lose her rag for no reason, although she was ok if she got high off enough sugar.
My maths teacher's a good teacher, its just we're worried he's on crack or some other halucenagenic (sp?).

I interpreted that to suggest that you have biology teachers that aren't human
