I am a EU national and arrived in the UK during May 2016

I am currently studying as an undergraduate and later want to apply for Teacher training in the UK in 2019

I want to know if I am eligible for a bursary

This is what it says on Gov.uk website :
"To receive a bursary or scholarship trainees must be entitled to support under the Student Finance England criteria"

I don't understand this criteria - is it the same as the Loan criteria? I don't have a settled status in the UK but by the start of the course, I will have resided 3 years.

Hi Tamako2410,

There are different types of bursaries depending on whether you apply for funding as a EU or a home student. If you are applying for a Postgraduate Teacher Training course then you may be eligible for a Teacher Training Bursary or Scholarship from The National College for Teaching and Leadership on eligible courses in England.

Eligibility for most bursaries/scholarships (except for the Teacher Training Bursary or Scholarship) are decided by your Higher Education Provider (HEP) so I would recommend asking your chosen University about this. If they confirm you would be eligible you can contact us on January 2019 once we have had Policy confirmed for that academic year and we can advise you how to go about applying as this can vary depending on the type of bursary you are applying for and whether you are applying as a home or EU student.

The Teacher Training Bursary or Scholarship is awarded automatically by your chosen Teacher Training Provider if you are enrolled on a non salaried Postgraduate Course that meets the eligibility criteria. To find out more information about this you can call The Teaching Agency on 0800 389 2500.

Should there be a new university admissions system that ditches predicted grades?

No, I think predicted grades should still be used to make offers (505)
Yes, I like the idea of applying to uni after I received my grades (PQA) (621)
Yes, I like the idea of receiving offers only after I receive my grades (PQO) (305)
I think there is a better option than the ones suggested (let us know in the thread!) (68)
