Hi, I had mine pierced about 2 years ago, it didn't hurt a t all, but does take some getting use to as I use to catch mine all the time, and that does hurt. after a few months I had to have mine taken out as it started to move out on it's own, so I'm now left with a scar on my belly button and is still quite visible 2 years on. As to whether you should get it done or not it's totally up to you, but make sure you are aware of the risks involved and how its going to look when you get older or want to have children. Anyway good luck in whatever you decide. xx
If you have your ears pierced, well it hurts less than that!
and you can ask them to use this spray which like freezes your belly button so you don't feel it - that's what I did

Don't get freeze spray like someone suggested. Freeze spray is ethyl chloride, and you can have a quick google of that and find all the lovely risks, such as increased healing time and minor frostbite. It's not worth it, the pain isn't going to traumatise you for life - you'll forget about it a few hours later.
It might make you look skinner. I got told the clamp really hurts and I thought that it was the clamp going on but actually he'd pierced it..
So I'd say it didn't hurt.
Kate.

oh I didn't know that
me and my two friends had ours done together 3 years ago - the two of us who had the spray used felt no pain and have had no problems. my friend who didn't have the spray said it hurt quite a bit and had to heal it up about 3 weeks after because some strange lump formed on it - it wasn't pretty!

but I guess that was just coincidence. As long as you keep it clean you should have no problem
Piercing really needs to be better regulated. My old piercer was telling me that she had a girl come in and ask about a clitoral hood piercing, who decided not to have it done when told that they wouldn't freeze hers like some dodgy other place had done for her friend.

Why, why, why would you let/want someone to put that stuff on yr bits?!
Access all Areas used freeze spray on my ears even after i had asked them not to, i was shocked

Friend at work got hers done (double navel), and she told me it didn't hurt.

She was probably lying to sound cool. Just like how people claim tattoos don't hurt.
yes.. its a needle going through your skin. how can it not hurt?!

i want my navel done, but only when ive lost weight :frown:

yes while having it done it doesn't hurt but you have to be careful as it is very tender after you've had it done. if you get it caught or someone hits you there or something, that REALLY hurts.
and also, size 10/12, thats really not big at all, it will probably look better than your 6/8 friends, it always does with someone with curves :]

some people just have higher pain thresholds.
i remember when we had our BCGs done at school and loads of people said it hurt but me and most of my friends didn't feel a thing

as for the bellybutton, if you want it done for you then just go for it. if you want it done to look nice and don't think it will at your weight then don't.
personally i don't like bellybutton piercings but I wouldn't advise against it if it's what you want.
i had mine done about 7 months ago. they used the freeze spray (i was told then that id have minor frost bite but its nothing to worry about). the freeze spray felt fine to start off with but after a while of spraying it stung quite a bit. as for the piercing, i was told it was the least painful piercing to get and that it didnt hurt at all but mine hurt quite a bit. about the same amount as having a needly shoved through my ear cartilige. dont wanna scare you but just be prepared for it to hurt. it doesnt hurt loads but its not gonna be completely painless.

Think my answer regarding if belly button piercings hurt would also be 'not really'. Personally when I say that I mean the piercing didn't hurt any more than I expected it to.

Ive been told its hardly hurts in comparison to most other piercings and besides whats a little sting compared to a lovely piercing that you're so proud of?

It will definately be worth it if you really want it.

Go for it I say!
