Wanting to contact an old friend...

I used to be pretty good friends with a girl from primary school, we generally got on well and had quite a bit in common.

We kind of grew apart when I moved house, and she moved schools... throughout those few years we sent a few letters but nothing much else!

However, about a year ago she contacted me again and we met up and started emailing. The emailing went on for a while and then stopped-- on both parts. We haven't spoken since.

For the past year I've been agonising over whether to contact her again-- I don't want to sound desperate, do I? She's all caught up in a big whirl of a social life, she's pretty popular at her new school, and I don't want to... intrude?

I'm not sure how to approach the situation now-- if I'd done it just a few months after our last email it wouldn't seem so awkward.

Any advice? What should I do?
just go for it, whats the worst that can happen?
Do it now and dont worry about it seeming awkward.

I got back in touch with a good friend from primary, just a few months ago even though from the looks of facebook she was all caught up with her new uni life at Cambridge and we only really speak every christmas (via letters/emails). Now we are back in touch and are going to meet up at some point. and im glad i made the first move to get back in contact.

Go for it! start some conversations and then ask to meet up sometime it should be fine!
just email her something like "hallo stranger, long time no speak, how you been?"

i'm sure she'll find time in her busy schedule to reply.

That's the question I keep asking myself!

I could embarrass myself I suppose... or she might have changed as a person and think that the contact after such a long time is laughable!

Or she might have changed her email address...

I know I'm rambling.
Well if she's changed it...she'll never know.

(although you may panic that she's ignoring you)*

True! I think I'll just do it before I have the chance to change my mind...

It's just the thought of her ignoring me makes me cringe!
yeah jsut send a simple email saying hi, how are you, long time no speak. and aks her hat she's been up to.

if she doesn't reply she doesn't reply. if she does you can kick start everything rolling again.

you might even be able to arrange a meet up at some point and maybe arrange a coffee morning somewhere to have a proper chat and catch up on old times!

You're right, you're right. Thank you.

To be honest, over the past two years she's always been the one to contact me-- always sending letters and emails! So maybe she won't mind too much if I contact her!

Geez, I need to grow some balls (not literally, obviously)!
Just thought I'd update!

I took the advice you guys gave me and emailed her! The good news is-- she replied, right away!

And she wants to meet again! I'm sooo thrilled!

Thanks for the encouragement-- I'm so glad I did it now!
