I've been torn between Glasgow and Edinburgh. I love how beautiful Edinburgh is, it is so picturesque. However, music and fashion are important to me and I want to be able to have a fun night out. I will be studying abroad for one term only so I'm not thinking long term, I just want to be able to meet cool people for the short time that I'm there. I like to go clubbing where I'm from and the clubbing music I prefer is hip-hop/rap. It feels stupid to not choose Edinburgh over nightlife/fashion/music since its a beautiful city and great school but everywhere I've read says go to Glasgow if that's what you're interested in.

TLDR; Is the nightlife in Edinburgh any good? Should I go to Glasgow if I care about music/culture/fashion?

Edinburgh is still a great place for entertainment, especially if you're there around the time of the Fringe, but yes Glasgow is definitely better known for its music scene/nights out/general hipster stuff

Also, if you opt for Edinburgh (the better of the two academically/prestige-wise), you could very easily and cheaply get to Glasgow in an hour on the train or bus for nights out or at the weekend
