I left school in September this year and after one week of leaving people had already started ignoring me. I text my best friend who has been my friend since we were 5 years old and got no response. My closest friends ducked out of going to the cinema but i gave it benefit of the doubt (September). Then because people were not answering texts i decided to use Instagram so i could talk to them easier.

That worked for a short time but my conversations are very one sided, i send 4 messages in a row and get a response after 2 weeks. So i thought maybe i was overpowering them with too much info at once so i just sent a short message to each. Now I only get a reply from 2 out of 8 friends and even then that is a stretch.

It is that bad i messaged one friend and asked why people were ignoring me. He text my friend who i knew since age 5 and withing 10 minutes i got a text saying he did not mean to leave it so long and how was things going. I responded with a short text about the new things in my life and then asked “how is ur life going?” and got no response. Things just seem forced so i am going to end up deleting Instagram and not messaging them.

Sorry this is so long but it is nearly 5 months of being ignored

I can understand its difficult but friends can be quite cliquey. What you had in common was school and now you no longer have that, so you kind of drift out of their immediate thoughts as they have exams. They mau also find it a bit awkward (I dint know why you left). In turn they will leave school as well and will lose touch when they go to uni or get jobs.

Try and calm it down and giving off any sense of desperation/ neediness and dont react completely the opposite by deleting them. Do try and socialise outside school with them. If they arent interested then they werent very good friends anyway. You can make new friends in whatever you choose to do.

I get this a lot too, I left High school 7 years ago. Most of my "friends" don't wanna know. I believe they made new friends at college or work and we are no interest to them anymore. I wouln't worry too much about them. You'll make better friends who value your time.

KInda same except I have (or had seems a bit more appropriate) 4 close friends including one of 10 years and one of 8 years
They don't seem to care much about me anymore and wouldn't think twice about leaving me on seen and then replying a week or even a month later but it doesn't bother me because I'm not lonely
Everyone's preoccupied in their own world. It might not even be that they're actively ignoring you; it's just that they're really busy.
If you feel lonely then you should try to make new friends and if you can't do that for whatever reason, then you should try some hobbies: reading, gaming, sports, exercising, cooking, etc but don't feel bad. Everyone drifts apart; it sucks but it's one of life's bitter pills yk.

Thanks for the replies, haven’t logged in since I posted that and to be honest, things have changed a lot. A few actually came back to me and were messaging more often over the last 6 months however I just couldn’t be bothered to talk to people I felt I had very little in common with anymore. So I ended up deactivating Instagram so I could actually focus on real life with family etc.
