Leaving my Religion

So I’ve been thinking about this for a while now. The whole religion of Christianity doesn’t make sense to me anymore and I’ve tried making hints to my parents who haven’t taken it well. Especially my mum, who has threatened to completely disown and disinherit me. She’s also attempted emotional blackmail to keep me in the religion but quite frankly I’m not willing to pretend that I believe in the religion. She has now also attempted to get her Pastors to convince me to stay but I can’t. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if you rely on your parents it would be sensible to try and fit in. once you are independent you can do what you like.
Just lie and say you believe in it, and once you’re free you can do whatever you want. You’d be only harming yourself if you told your mother you don’t believe anymore

I am currently at University and most of the time I just rely on my Student Loan for financial support, therefore I wouldn't really say I rely on them? I'm only back for the holidays which is not that often as I am on an Intense 2-year degree.

What are the financial, emotional and familial implications if your mum keeps her word and does disown you? How will that decision impact you financially? Where will you go in the uni holidays, and after uni, if you can't stay at uni during holidays or get a job afterwards? Do you have any siblings/other close family members that your mum can bar from having contact with you if/when she disowns you?

All things I would want to consider if I were in your position. It sounds like you're more independent than a teenager living at home, but not fully independent either...

Good luck either way
