Hey, i was just wondering if anyone could help me out for A level english?
1. if you've got wider reading that connects to your set texts how do you use it in the exam?

2. Also if your set text is King Lear or any other Shakespeare text, how do you make connections with wider reading if it was written after wards, so how can you say the chracters are similar?

Thanks for the help

Regarding King Lear the best reading - in my view - is:-

The Arden Shakespeare Third Series King lear.
Arden were always, for me, the most authorative version. However in the Third series they have really stepped up their game.Their new introduction as well as their updated textual annotations are just superb. I would not study a shakespeare play with a copy of the Arden Shakespeare Third Series text beside me.
There are a number of copies here for as low as £1.69
https://www.amazon.co.uk/King-Lear-A...ries+king+lear

For further reading I use two OU booklets.
a) A201 blocks 33-34 King lear
You may have difficulty finding this unit.
b) A361 Block 4 King Lear
There are 5 copies here for 44p
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...A361+King+lear
With these books I have sufficient to understand King lear
