LSE vs Cambridge

Im pretty sure, both Cambridge and LSE will you to the same places in life. Both have advantages that I believe offset one another. LSE has amazing economic research, the top economic professors and is of course a place entirely dedicated to economics. Furthermore, being situation in London has perks socially and career-wise. Cambridge's reputation indeed has that edge, that kick over LSE since it is multi-faculty and has been at the epitome of further education for hundreds of years. LSE in comparison is a relatively new institution. Moreover, the bridge has the advantage of the brilliant 1to1 tutorials where as the LSE professors are renowned for, excuse my French, not giving a ****! But overall its down to you. LSE gears u up for the city, which Cambridge can provide you with also. But Cambridge has that additional academic feel to it. Despite saying this, I am going to chose LSE if i get in (still waiting, conditional from Cam atm) purely because I prefer London life to the dull Cambridge village and also I don't fancy writing 2 essays a week! But that's just me, I'm a little lazy and quite motivated by clubs

hope to see you there next year then

corpus christi in cambridge?
me as well...

ar u an international student?

yup from Bangladesh
I will probably end up accepting Cambridge, but LSE is looking tempting.
I don't think there is a huge difference to be honest. I think Cambridge's reputation just does the trick perhaps, and its lower on cost as well. I don't think working hard will be an issue so choose Cambridge!

Sorry to steal this thread...but how would you guys compare Economics & Management at Oxford to Maths and Economics at LSE? I have been accepted into both courses and I am not sure what to do.
E&M at Oxford! LOL... my opinion is biased for that, as I wanted to go there myself but was rejected. I would think that Maths and Econ will be more analytical whereas E&M would be more essay type. It depends what you like more, and read the previous responses for comparing living costs and social life etc.

definitely what sharyans said...E&M = much more essays, analytical and i would probably say pick it over M&E although M&E is more technically rigorous, especially the abstract maths module so if you like that then I would say M&E is better. for postgrad econs studies or financian econ for example, E&M isnt going to be that technical so it may not be as good

Give the guy a break
He is very confused and needs all the help in making his decision :P

Whatever decision you do make, it will be a great experience for you, both learning and where you will be.

He's getting pretty much the same answers everywhere! :p:
And plus, it's nothing against him, I'm just commenting on it!
LOL... okay, fair enough.
I didn't read all the other threads he is posted this on....
You still waiting to hear from LSE?
I'd say Cambridge; simply from the fact that this thread is posted in a LSE forum and still managed to receive generally pan-cam responses. :P

I have only posted this question on the Oxford, Oxbridge, LSE, and IB forum as I wanted to see what people at each place would say. And as Shrayans has mentioned, I have been very confused (I am an international student and deciding between such good places has been tough!)

Seeing that most people have said that Oxford's E&M course is slightly better, I have decided to make Oxford my firm choice and LSE my insurance (in any case, my offer from Oxford was higher than my offer from LSE).

sugar_cane....have you decided that it's going to be Oxford? I am fellow Indian and it would be nice to meet you there considering that there are not many international students at Oxford.

@ Shrayans - I have read that you live in Bangkok? I am currently living there too! Which school do you go to?
Shrewsbury International School.... where are you!? I might actually know you, and not even know, if that makes any sense!
