Time difference help

I wake up at around 9am and like to go to bed at 10pm.
My bf likes to wake up at around 1pm and goes to bed at around 3am.

This is really annoying me as I'd like to spend more time together with my bf. I would stay up later (I stayed up until 11:30 last night) but I was so exhausted I could barely keep my eyes open.

Anyone else have this problem or have any sensible suggestions?

You still have 9 hours together, unless I am missing something?..

How does your boyfriend feel about it? Maybe you can compromise a bit (ie, you stay up till midnight and he gets up by 11am) or something? Failing that, find stuff to do when he is asleep that you wouldn't want to do around him!

The reason ( I would think) why you were so tired, is because you are used to your routine of going to bed early, so your body is used to being allowed to sleep at that time.. My suggestion would be to change that routine over time, maybe with 5 or 10 minutes at the time....

One of you has to retune your body clock!

If you go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, your body will soon come to believe this is normal and you won't be exhausted.

You sleep for 11 hours every night! No wonder you're exhausted, you sleep far, far too much! 6 hours is plenty, 8 more than enough, and 10 excessive. I mean maybe a night or two a month you can have a nice long sleep... but 11 hours a night is going to leave you lethargic. You're sleeping away half of your life!

Basically you could get yourself into a 2 or 3am - 9am sleep pattern and you'd be fine - it just takes a few weeks for you to adjust to less sleep.

Thanks everyone for your replies

I think I will try compromising with going to bed times, but also changing when I go to bed over time. I shall try this week going to bed at 10:30- 11:00.

I'm not sure that's always true. If I sleep 6 hours I can't function for the rest of the day, I can hardly keep my eyes open. 8 hours is the best for me, but I feel tired all day no matter how much sleep I have

Neither can I on 6 hours, but that's because I'm used to getting more. You can function perfectly well on 6 hours sleep out of 24, but it would take a few months of forcing yourself to only get 6 hours a night for your body to adjust to it. Basically once you get into a pattern of sleeping a set amount of time every night, you'll find it difficult to sleep longer than that amount of time. The same goes for sleeping too much (like the OP's 11 hours... clearly far too much), once you start doing it, your body won't want to go with anything less than what it was getting before making you feel more tired.
