Do you find Manchester rough? Ever had much trouble?

manchester is rough as the next city. be it london, liverpool, leeds, birmingham, nottingham.
i've never had any trouble. and i live on the rusholme - moss side border. (M14). moss side (and longsight) are alleged to be where most of the crime happens

you need to read between the lines. for every shooting that has happened thing of the number of shootings that haven't happened. in relative terms it's nothing.

I get you. Does anybody actually live in the city centre or right near it?
yes. but they're usually people with a lot of money. lots of high rise flats in the city centre. including student digs/gaffes too
Cheers.

This is what you get (as an example) in Manchester and London for £1m respectively:

and

Having said this I've never been to Manchester, but love visiting London!

my brother recently moved to manchester and i visited him at the end of november. i loved it instantly, though i don't really know why.

i've been to london twice and although it's nice there, i would only ever like to visit there for a day or two. much too big and busy for me.

Excellent point. To be fair I think the London one is more central though.

That's 4 miles from Stafford, how that can be claimed as Manchester is beyond me. Property in the 'Golden Triangle' I.e Wilmslow, Prestbury, Knutsford is very expensive, but £1m would get you more than in London, I'm sure. Inside the m60 the Fallowfield area is quite vibrant, but i'm not a great fan of the city

Well in the search criterion I did specify a 40 mile radius! But check out the quality of other properties in closer proximity to that.

Both my home, in Cheshire and my digs in Liverpool are well within the 40 mile radius. I'd be damned to call my self practically Manchester though! In Cheshire there are plenty of very classy properties if you are looking to buy in that price band, likewise With Formby north of Liverpool and Caldy on the Wirral! It's fair to say i've checked out the quality of all sorts of properties closer than Stafford to Manchester, which is much closer to Birmingham!

Manchester is cool if you're a student, not so much if you're not.

London is the place to be though.
London is awesome. I'm really going to miss it when I leave.

Having said that, I've always liked Manchester when I've visited. But London seems to have so so much more.
Only one winner really

Ldn, expensive Manch cheap :P
I'm swaying towards Manchester to live, because I like a 'friendlier' size to a city, I like Manc accents and people, and it's cheaper, plus I don't mind the cooler weather.

Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Tokyo or Nagoya will do~~
i live in london but have been to manchester lots since some of my best friends are there. i think it's a really good place for students to live in.
