I plugged in my iPod to the USB in my PC, and usually it opens iTunes automatically and updates etc, but this time nothing happened.

1. I cannot open iTunes manually.
2. My iPod is plugged in and has the 'do not disconnect' message on the screen
3. I cannot safely remove hardware at this time.

So whats the problemo? How do I disconnect my Ipod safely?

I have just tried that, but still iTunes won't open.

I must also add that the time on my iPod still reads as 17.44 (when I plugged it in) so maybe my iPod has finally given up on me? I have been using it a lot since I bought it about 16 months ago.

MENU and SELECT!!!!
It doesn't do anything because my iPod is not responding to its buttons.

It has frozen and no button pushing will change that, I fear.

Mine once did this. I kind of avoided looking at it for a couple of days and it got over itself in the end!

hmmm. whenever mine has frozen i hold those for about 5-10 seconds and the apple logo comes up as it resets. that does the trick.

your ipod shouldnt be knackered after 16months is it just a 1 year warranty you get?

To disconnect it safely just shutdown the computer and then unplug it. Reboot the computer and try again, it might solve the problem.

Wait for the battery to run out (you will have to unplug the ipod for that to happen BTW). Then charge it. Then listen to music.
