My "Grow Your Grades" 2018 - Ryan G

Hey everyoneeee

My name's Ryan, I'm 14 and I'm a Year 10 student from Southampton. I thought I would begin one of these threads on what I'd like to be a "Road from 7s to 9s".

For a little summary about me - I love music (I play piano, guitar and ukulele), I'm aiming for all 8s/9s in my GCSEs, I'm a big fan of film and TV (not going to lie, I spend too much time watching Netflix and Saturday night shows),and I really like sport as well (I run at least 4x a week, cycling on the occasional weekend...).

Now, here comes the boring part. School. I'm aiming to do 4 A-Levels so I'd really like my grades to be high. The subjects I have chosen are: Music, Business, French and History, alongside all the core subjects.
I know I have ages to think about it but if I were to choose my A Levels now, they'd be: Music HSMC*, French, Law and Media.
*the college I'd like to go to offers the Hampshire Specialist Music Course which is an A Level for "gifted and talented" (which I can assure you I'm not lol) music students who are seriously thinking about a career in music. You need to be around Grade 7/8 ABRSM for this so it will take a lot of hard work to get there in two years. Lord help me.

I'd like to turn all of my grades into 8s + 9s in order to do these subjects. So, here are all my "on track for grades" in each of my individual subjects:
French: 9 (French is my strongest subject, and possibly my favourite too)
Music: 7 (I need to have a look at mark schemes for this before I try to improve)
English Literature: 7
English Language: 8
Maths: 6/7
Chemistry: 6
Biology: 7
Physics: 8
History: 6
Business: 8

My target (based on SATs grades and previous progress) are all 8s but I want to aim for the highest grade, so here comes the blood, sweat and tears.

As it is the first week of 2018 I thought I'd share my new years resolutions too: drink loads of water, exercise at least 4 times a week, read more, go out more, take care of money better and get enough sleep.

I'm hoping to update this every week and update you all on my progress. Hopefully this blog will go on till Results Day 2019. Hope this is cool

Cheers guys!
Ryan G.
Moved this to the GYG forum
