Could you just give me a quick rundown of the application process if I wanted to be in Broadgate park? Can I specify this?

Log onto our website from Jan 28th onwards and submit your application stating your preffered site (eg Broadgate Park)

We receive this and check availability, if there are rooms available we pass your details to UPP (Broadgates owners) and they contact you with an offer. You get about 2 weeks to accept the offer and then you move in around Mid September.

Is this what you needed?

Bren, check your PM's please. Not sure if you saw it yesterday. Thanks.

Yeah thats it, was confused 'coz Broadgate park website at www.thestudentvillage.com has its own application forms? Are they for people not in the first year/postgraduates?

I read that postgrad students need to pay a deposit to secure accommodation. does this mean that even after the university sends the accomm offer, my room is not secure until they receive my deposit?at what point to they start allocating postgrad students?

Also, i'm choosing Raleigh Park. can i choose a specific court?
Reply 27
We have abandond the need for a deposit, pre-application. Get your app to us and we will send you an offer. After you receive the offer you then pay the deposit, usually £250.

With Raleigh Park you should be able to name somewhere and stand a chance of getting it but they tend to put PG's in specific blocks only so can't promise anything. It can never hurt to ask.

The student village website is really for other UPP sites. They do use it for Broadgate but we try to discourage it as it doesn't link into the uni system at all. UPP are great admin wise though they will make you an offer really quickly but if they are full you don't get passed over to us.

That's great thanks  Also, I want to accept Nottingham as both my insurance and firm choice (i've applied for 2 courses and received conditional for both) and apply for accomodation asap. However, Durham have sent me a letter saying they wont make a choice until March... does this mean I won't be able to apply for accomodation until then?

Unfortunately yes. Until all your offers are in you can't go firm with anyone ans start the app.

If you were totally set on Nottingham and not interested in Durham, you could cancel that choice on UCAS and go straight to accepting your offers. Not 100% sure why you'd want to do that though.

you got straight eco offer mark?
It's very kind of you to do this BrenLee, I don't think I've seen any other uni do it :congrats:

v2006, it's unlikely markdr would say 'Economics' if he didn't mean 'Economics', especially considering he differentiates between 'Economics and Management' for Oxford and Aston. You needn't make pointless and obvious posts that deviate from the topic

I'm looking to apply for self-catered halls [UG 08/09], prefereably en-suite and a single-sex flat. I was wondering if you'd be able to give me advice on whether i'm better off applying to somewhere like St Peter's Court or to private accommodation such as Manor Villages.

I've chosen St Peter's Court in particular because i'll be at Jubilee Campus most of the time and so Broadgate Park is just too far and Raleigh Park doesn't look very nice from photos.

It's hard to give advice to a person when you don't know them but I would say about St Peters that you should definately have good street sense (safety etc) and be willing to walk. There really isn't much nearby SPC so you will be heading over to Jubilee for pretty much everything.

That being said the hall is really nice and the common room etc is cool.

Best advice I can give you is go and visit them and that should tell you everything you want to know. If possible visit at night, with a friend, as well as during the day.

I cant find it asked elsewhere, but I'd like to know your opinion - Newark or Southwell?

Just interested to hear which is better

Cheers

Chris

What happens if you want to apply for a parking permit (again i'm thinking of BGP) and how much is it? When can you start applying and how likely are you to get a place?
