I just realised it’s the 2nd and I’ve not got my loan in my account yet. I've emailed [email protected] and explained my situation and scanned my final assessment status loan letter (is that the right document?)

Am i too late? Would i lose my room now? :frown:

Your loan won't come through until after you register in person at the uni some time in week one, so we're talking late september/early october at best.

Has the first payment deadline been pushed back to the 9th? On here it says it has but on all the original paperwork it said the 1st. I'm just a bit worried about my bank not transferring the money today - I might send NH an email if it hasn't gone through by the end of the day, just in case.

i too have Term 1: 21 Sep 2008 to 13 Dec 2008
Payable before 09 Sep 2008

For anyone who gets there offer without enough time to setup payment in time for the 1st of Sept, we have changed the deadline date.
If your paperwork says the 1st, it will not be changed unless you have emailed us.

If you 've emailed us you don't need to worry, everything will be fine.

Can anyone tell me if we're allowed into our allocated accommodation before the term starts?

I'm gonna be there starting the 19, so three days before the official beginning of the uni term, I've already been given an offer for accommodation at Newark Hall (Jubilee Campus) which I've accepted and already paid for, but I'm just not 100% percent sure if I'll be allowed in there and if at that point they'll give me another temporary room for those 3 days...

Please enlighten me!!!

You can enter your room on the 21st September. If you are an international student you should have been in touch with the International office about accommodation for the welcome program. If you are a UK or EU student then there is no temp accommodation given to you as standard. Email here to try and get some...

Aahh, sorry to go slightly off topic from the last few posts, but I'm kinda panicking and not sure what to do!

Basically I've been told that the uni can't give me any accommodation, so obv that leaves me with private stuff, going through unipol.....but I have no idea where to start! I want to be with other freshers ideally, in a fairly lively place, so I can make friends easier etc, but I don't know what kind of area, or even what I should be looking for.

Anyone have any advice? It will massively appreciated!

We will be sending you another email with guidance on either today or tomorrow. Don't panic we are still trying to help you.

look here if you need to get started now:

Is there anyway we can check if you've received our payments?

Nope, it takes a few days to filter through to us from the finance office. Check your portal for an update as that will be updated as we are.

on the applicants guide 2008 it said 20-21...
To my knowledge you're only allowed to move in the day before term starts so that'd be the 21st, unless they've changed it. Internationals *might* be able to move in on the 20th but I'm not 100% sure.

Correct as usual  but moving in on the 20th is by pre-arrangement only.

Just showing up on the 20th will cause all sorts of problems.

Go on throw caution to the wind and phone us yourself, you'll get so much more respect from us. Incidentally you should probably phone the hall directly to check it it's ok.

Get the corresponding number here:

I paid for my accomodation on the 1st but the money hasn't yet left my bank account. Is this ok or should I ring up accomodation or something to tell them why it's a little late?
Hope I won't lose my room... o.o

I might see you there then :p: I'm in lincoln from the 13th.

Do you know if the bistro places (forgotten the names now) are open? I've got a friend who's a tutor at Hu-Stu and he's already living so I imagine they've got students in and it might be open? Same for Derby?

Do you mean the Mix(es), apparently they are supposed to be open year round so they can cater for conference guests as well but whether they are or not I couldn't say.

I don't get out of the office much :frown:
Hey all,

I am with Derwent Living (Raleigh Park), and my payment is due in the 20th (Date I move in), but I don't receive my student finance money until the 22nd. I have e-mailed Derwent about it, and they said they can't change the date, and just give a cheque, which will take a few days to clear anyway. Is there anything else I can do, as I am worried if I do that, the cheque will bounce before the 22nd and I will get fined by my bank, and in trouble with Derwent.
