I'm having so much trouble paying for accommodation. My student account took ages to set up, and when I tried to set up a standing order for some reason they couldn't do it. I don't know what to do now :s-smilie: I emailed accommodation (using the ugaccommodation address) last Monday to explain that I needed to wait for my student account to register, but didn't get a reply. After finding out today that they couldn't set up a standing order I tried ringing the accommodation office but they were shut (my fault for not ringing before 5...) and I'm now worried that I'm over a week late with my payment and don't even know how to pay now the standing order isn't working. What can I do?
Im not an official 'helper' on accommodation, the praise goes to BrenLee and La Trampa. However, based on my recent experience there is nothing to panic over, trust me i panic for no reason.

Simply find your student loan company letter, which has the break down of your student loan. It should have the dates of your payments etc. Then find a scanner, scan it and attach it to the email you send to [email protected] explaining your financial position and reasons for requesting a delay. Make sure its titled 'Accomodation fees'.

She will have received it even if you don't find a reply within one or two days. But within three days she replied to me.

Then go to http://winster.nottingham.ac.uk/AccomApp/new_students/payment_mandate.asp to print the mandate and then go to your local branch and give it in personally.

I did all this and after much stressing and panicking have had my payment delayed till 13th of October.

Good luck.

Go there and put in your details, it'll tell you what's covered and what isn't. Unfortunately, laptops aren't. :frown:

im just wondering now that i have my accomodation offer, what my payment will be...is the years price divided exactly by 3 for each term or does it work out on weeky rates and the amount of weeks in that term? just wondering so i can try and budget!
Reply 746
If you have an offer you should have the payment schedule. That tells you all you need to know.

I'm pretty sure we find out when we arrive.
If you're in broadgate you'd have received your room number.
In halls, you'll find out when you arrive no doubt, but if I remember correctly, it should have been in the offer letter.

Thanks for that  I think the problem was with my bank not being able to set up the standing order so that it paid Nottingham different amounts 3 times a year, instead of the same amount monthly/quarterly etc. Finally got it sorted today and sent an email to Lynne Walker though so thanks for her address.

Can I ask exactly what things are provided in the kitchens in catered halls??

microwave, small fridge/freezer, ironing board/iron, cupboards, sink. :^_^:

edit: this is for catered halls as in University Park/Jubilee!

It's huge for a single room. I've just been living in a 'single' room in bgp and this is bigger..far bigger actually lol I can actually hoop in it..in like a 37" hoop so it's quite big considering i couldn't do this in the bgp room. Plus I lived in lincoln in my first year, and the quad is very pretty especially on lovely days.

Jessica, as in previous posts, there's a kettle, microwave, toaster, mini fridge (i think). in your room you've got a mini fridge.
Most of my friends are moving into their Universities on Saturday. For Notts, I was told any time after 10am on Sunday. Is this correct? or can we come on Saturday?
