Wireless isn't campus wide yet so if you were to choose a huge hall like Hugh Stewart and requested a room as far away from the JCR, dining area reception and North side as possible you might not pick up the signal.

Alternatively you could just disable the wireless capability on your PC.

OK thanks, when you say the North Side, do you mean the North side of the campus, and if so why would this be important?

Also, would Broadgate park be an option for avoiding wireless signals?

Thanks again for helping with my unusual request, i'd rather not have to wear a metalic helmet!

Campus permits are hard to get but for places like BGP you can get them fairly easily for an extra charge. You can't apply for it until you've been made a room offer though but you should be sent a permit application in your offer pack.

Can't be sure on the cost so someone here will have to correct me but I think it's £50 per term.

Hi again, i've just received my room offer from BGP but there is no permit application in the pack. In the BGP handbook thing I received it said to see the licence agreement for more information on parking, but the licence agreement doesn't mention it. Any ideas?

Hey, I understand Nottingham have already started accepting apps for accomodation. I'm applying for law so its taking a while to get all my offers together. Anyway, how quickly do places like broadgate park fill up? i want to be self-catered but on campus and from what i remember that was one of the only places. Are there likely to still be places if I apply in say, june?
Reply 108
Hi Jon,

You can't have both self-catered and on campus.
Broadgate Park is located off campus ouside the west entrance of Uni park.
We will still have rooms in most areas from June.

If i ask for it, can i have a room on the top story of my campus? The reason i ask is that a couple of friends of mine who are at uni at the moment have had problems with the people located above them. They get woken in the night by people tramping around etc...

Also which campus has the most floors? I was shown willoughby on th eopen day and that had 3 i think, are there any with more?
Hej, I got a conditional offer for the Politics course and I put down Nottingham as FIRM on my application. I now have to choose an accommodation. I want one which is near my campus and which en suites. How much money do the accommadation approximately cost per week? Thank you already for your help.

You can ask, we will try, but we can't guarantee.

What happens if you get noisy neighbours downstairs though?

You could answer most of these questions by just looking at the Uni website, there are maps and pricelists.

hey brenLee
is the cotton mills accommodation good for UG? the prices are pretty cheap and they provide en-suite. do UoN students go there? is it safe? im considering applying to cotton mills..so any help regarding this would be very much appreciated.

How many questions? Take a breath already!

Cotton Mills is not associated with the Uni in any way but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad in fact I've heard good reports about it.

As there is no relationship between CM and UoN we have no idea how many students they have living there but I would imagine there are a few. Perhaps you'd be better off asking everyone else as well.

Is it safe...I'm limited to what I can say here as people within the Uni are monitoring my every word and waiting for me to slip up. In fact it's probably best for me to not comment at all but I would strongly advise you to take a walk down around the block in daylight and at night, with friends, to get a feel for the area. It's usually pretty easy to tell if it's a troubled neighbourhood as you'll see boarded up or smashed windows, abandoned cars, a strong police presence etc. If it doesn't feel safe to you then you probably won't be happy living there. I'm sure others here will tell you the bits and pieces you are really looking for and they probably know those streets a little better than me anyway.

Can anyone provide me with a map of Sherwood hall? I'd like to know where its various facilities are located

Ok, so I've applied to SPC (eg. UNITE), and I've heard quite a lot of bad stuff about UNITE.. Is it true?? Is BGP better??

Also, BrenLee, can I change my application now you think? From having SPC as 1st priority to BGP??
Reply 117
Some people prefer BGP, others prefer UNITE. In some ways one is better than the other but in others the reverse is true. Off the top of my head I would say the en-suite flats are of a slightly better standard at St Peters but the social side at Broadgate is a lot better as it's easy to get involved with the Uni Park stuff.

It's a really difficult question to answer and all depends on the individual really.

Give me a call or drop me a PM and I'll change it over for you.

Thank you

I won't phone you, because that would cost me half a million, will PM you later when I have decided.. Will try talking to some more people (Although I know it depends on the individual..), and then let you know soon..

Hi I asked this in another thread but thought I would just put it in here too.
Does anyone know if there are lots of first year students going into broadgate. I know most prefer to go into catered, but I was wondering whether I would be likely to be sharing a flat with other freshers, or would there be 2nd and 3rd years too?
