Hi everyone,

Really struggling with my dissertation topic. I have a research topic and have started my literature review but I really feel like I’m behind. My title is “how has Nigeria’s 20:2020 vision affected rural and urban development in Nigeria.” I’m not sure how to structure my litrature review or my dissertation entirely. I have to write 12,000 words by April 20th. Any tips on dissertation structure/literature review would be great.
Thanks.

It's often a good idea to start with a search in an online database for academic peer review journals, like JSTOR. Your uni will have paid for subscriptions to specific services and your course lecturers/supervisors should be able to advise on where to conduct your searches.

The second main resource will be your uni/subject libraries. Most unis employ subject-specialist librarians who usually have a relevant degree to their topic and have a good background knowledge to help them manage their section. Seek out the geography/social science librarians and ask them if they'd kindly point you in the direction of relevant sections of the library. There is also usually a central university library database to search digitally.

Use Nigeria 20:2020 as your search terms and go from there.

The literature review should do what it says on the tin, run through an overview of the literature on the topic. Introduce the key debates and issues within your research question and point out some key perspectives and ideas you come across.
