-exercise makes you tired
-give yourself an hour before your bed time to wind down - have a bath, read a book, have a non-caffinated hot drink
-avoid caffeine and other stimulants for 6 hours before bed time
-5-htp is an amino acid which you can buy in pill forms - it can be naturally found in food, but it has less of an effect if you get it from high protein foods (as the carrier which takes htp into the brain is also the carrier for other amino acids, so when you eat foods which also have a high number of the other amino acids, htp has to compete with the other amino acids for the carrier. however, if you really dont want to take pills, foods which have a high htp-to-other-amino-acids ratio are bananas, turkey, milk)

its possible it is, at the same time it could be a number of things.
dont eat before bed, get some exercise, relax for a period before getting in bed and make sure youre warm enough

Make sure you're not hungry or thirsty before you go to bed.
I think it is more likely to be this time of year rather than anything else.
If you've got UCAS worries, January eam worries and the like it all sort of piles up on top of you and keeps you awake.

Try to go to bed at the same time everynight and get into a good routine. Have a bath, hot chocolate and then maybe read a book. Once you've got a pattern settled it definately helps.
Steer clear of fizzy drinks, tea, coffee and caffine or you'll be hyper and unable to sleep at all.

Most doctors won't give sleeping tablets unless its really necessary so its a good idea to try and sort the problem out yourself first.

Don't exercise before bed! It can intefere with your natural sleep cycle and prevent you from having a deep sleep because of the hormones you release during/after exercise...

haha yeah...but that's different i guess
Try having a ritual before you go to sleep (perhaps not pagan) like reading a book. I find that can help me though it hasn't recently due to 4th year apparently not being stress free either

Yeah it is but it'd work better than excercise. It can make you sleepy.

I recommend sleep teas, meditation, bedroom spray...
You have a lot on your mind and you're worrying about things. That's whats keeping you up. Take a long relaxing shower right before bed, or do some yoga. Take some deep breaths and clear your mind while picturing a place that's quiet and peaceful.
