Best way to learn research methods?

I need a crash course to familiarise myself with everything about quantitative research methods. I'm fine with qualitative however SPSS and the rest of it I just can't understand it.

Can you recommend any sites? books? videos?
Youtube for sure, particularly Andy Field's lectures
I worked through andy field's textbook for SPSS and it was quite enjoyable. You get a sense of how to do all the main statistical tests without much math involved.

For a better understanding i'd recommend Gravatter's stats textbook for learning to do the tests by hand and get some intuition about how it all works, though in practice its more helpful to know SPSS.
