BSc,MSc in Microbiology with 7+yrs exp and PhD holder can be a consultant in Micro?

Hi, I am a M.Sc. Microbiologist with more than 7 yrs exp in research and development laboratories of Biopharmaceuticals companies and government hospital laboratory in Mumbai region ,INDIA.
Currently ,I am in UK doing my PhD in Life sciences (Pharmacy and Medical Biosciences) . This is my last year and finishing within couple of months.
I came to know if I want to apply for a consultant in Microbiology post, I should have a doctor degree with FRCPath qualification.
May, I know can I eligible to apply myself for this post as a PhD holder in Life Sciences and BScand MSc in Microbiology with more than 7 yrs exp.?
If I need to do any course to become eligible, please suggest me.

You would need to undertake the NHS STP programme in order to gain a consultant post as a clinical scientist. You won’t be able to get a post as a clinician without a medical degree.
