Matrix Algebra at A-level?

Yellow boys and girls,
This is to those people who have done Further Maths:
Was just wondering whether you come accross Matrix algebra in P4-P5-P6 ? or is it a topic that is taught at uni ?

I haven't done P6 yet but it looks like a large component of that module.
There's a little stuff of matrices in decisions mathematics too, but it's mind numbingly easy.

For OCR (MEI), matrices are in P4 and P6.

If you're looking for something as in-depth as Linear Algebra, you won't find it in the A-level pure mathematics syllabi, unless you do OCR MEI P6.

You do matrix addition/subtraction, multiplication, finding determinants, inverses etc in P4 (again OCR MEI) ... then you do eigenvalues/eigenvectors etc in P6
what part of matrix algebra are you talking about?

i was talkin about Matrix alebra in general, but as i haven't studied it before was just wondering whether its in the a-level syllabus or not...which i now know it is :tongue:

It formed the entirety of P6 on my syllabus. And I got 100/100 hehe!

I'm thinking of teaching myself P4-P6 during my gap year , i don't expect to get anywhere near 100 though

Well I treated P6 very seriously, believing I wasn't as good at it as the rest of the class, so I went over it plenty. Also the sort of questions that come up in the exam are predictable, always worth studying past papers. But I was still amazed by the result.
