A car battery? A laptop battery? Mobile phone battery? Watch battery? Torch battery?

You'll probably never be able to move your hands again.

Reply 3

Let's say...one of those AA batteries.

Reply 4

Not much damage at all, maybe a small chemical burn - wash it under water straight away and consult your GP if it looks serious.

most batteries these days are alkaline, not acid! they are still toxic if you eat them but i dont think a small splash on the skin will do too mch harm, just be careful, and watch our for lead acid bateries they are very nasty, ie you might not have hands!

Alkalis aren't necessarily any safer than acids!

I know, but the types of each used in the batteries seem to work out that way

Okay - just thought I'd mention it before someone tries downing a bottle of oven cleaner, thinking they'll be fine because it's an alkali!

Has anybody ever licked the top of one of those rectangular batteries (with the two things sticking up on the top)? Cos it really stings!!!

I don't know why I did that, it wasn't too long ago either...

Its better with one of those big 6 volters (with the springy contacts) you get in schools' technology labs, they've got more kick.

Isn't it poisonous though?

Reply 16

Eh? No, its just the metal contacts I'm on about, nothing poisonous about them.

Why does it sting like an absolute bitch then?

Reply 17
