It's generally recommended that people not join unofficial groups, since they have previously just turned into spam-fests for advertisers, not well controlled etc.

Why bother joining the group? Offer holders are not yet Cambridge students

Because TSR doesn't allow you to promote FB Groups

Just a little warning.....

Every year, after the result day and any time up to summer, there’re some FB groups popping up for offer holders.
DO NOT join them unless you’re sure it’s an official one started by CUSU or your college’s JCR ( it’ll be much later day your college’s JCR starts the group, probably not until spring/early summer, so you’ll have to be patient, again, I’m afraid) Unofficial ones are not properly vetted or properly monitored/moderated, so it often gets inundated with people who are nothing to do with Cambridge but join the group for a wrong reason/s and some private companies ( sometimes disguised as an individual) who are there for marketing intention.
It won’t be a pleasant experience and, even worse, at risk of compromising your identity to undesirable people/company.

Invitation for Official offer holders FB group for your college will be sent by email from their JCR. It’s quite important you join them at some stage even if you’re not a fan of FB as it becomes your college’s official freshers FB group after A- level result day in August to provide info/supports when you need to get ready to start at Cambridge, and also its going to be a platform of communication between your JCR and people in your year group throughout your course until your graduation day ( and often beyond).
It’s properly vetted and usually a closed group, so you are safe with them as well as it’s very useful.
