Question about "gift year" and possible part time funding?

Hello,

So i started a degree back in 2015 but dropped out about 5 days, apparently i was supposed to be charged the full tuition for that term, but it doesn't show up on the student finance page or as a part of my debt.

Does this mean I still haven't used up my gift year?

I started a new degree in 2016 and am in my 2nd year now, but If i fail one module and have to resit it next year, will i get funding for it or do i have to pay for it myself?

Hi Evil Genius,

If you dropped early, prior to the liability period for the university and received no payments, it is likely they may have confirmed that you were not in attendance for the academic year.

As we have no access to specific accounts in The Student Room, if you contact us on twitter or facebook or alternatively, give us a call, we can quickly check this for you.

I received the grants and loans which I paid back in full when asked in January 2016 a few months after dropping out.

Would any tuition paid from Student finance to the university show up on my account page? because it does for my current uni, but not for the one i dropped out of.

Btw i dropped out after 5/6 days, They did say i was liable, but then again I enrolled late so i didn't get the full time to drop out.

Hi Evil Genius,

As I said we do not have access to specific accounts at The Student Room, to look into your previous funding, I would advise you to either contact us on twitter or facebook or call us, our lines are quiet just now.

With regards to your second question, if your university transfers you to a part time course, then previous full time years of study are not taken into account, as long as you did not gain a qualification.

If your university are allowing you to continue on a full time course attending on a part time basis, then your previous academic years will be used in working out your entitlement.

If you have to repeat a year of study, you may want us to consider your extenuating circumstances when making this calculation, also known as their Compelling Personal Reasons (CPR).

I would advise you again to give us a call.

Thanks Rona
