Hey, I'm currently applying to RAF as a Nursing Officer, I've had my Specialist interview and off to OASC next week (29th Jan). I'd be pleased to offer any help where I can.

Good luck with interview.

ok .. specific questions then:

- how many people were you presenting to?

- how long was the interview after the presentations?

- did you find out on the day how you got on with your presentation/interview?

- do you know how often specialist interviews are on? - how long did you have to wait for a date?

- when presenting, are you aloud to ask your audience questions?

- how did you find the time limit?

- did you/other candidates present something by way of teaching/reminding them how to do something in the clinical area?

- was there applicants for student nurse/staff nurse and officer all at the same time?

- do they ask you if you have a preference for where to go on your first tour?

- what other kinds of things did they ask you?

- how much do they expect you to know about the hospitals etc?

OK here goes:
-Presented to 4 people and other 1 other candidate.

-I cant remember how long it was at least 30mins tho

-I got a phone call when I got home yay!

-I had to wait two months for date from filter interview. Think they interview two times per week.

-I didnt ask any questions as there wasnt really anyone to ask.

-10mins was Ok I think went over slightly but they didn't say anything I guess that would depend on how many presentations they had in a day.

-I did an educational presentation on a clinical topic about a contemporary issue. Other candidate looked at chest pain in women which wasn't really related to RAF Nursing I would say but that didnt seem to be a problem. I dont think it matters too much what you present its how you present.

-Only interviews for Officers think they are all separate.

-Wasnt asked about preference, tho I wish I had asked!

-Half interview is about you what you've been up to during school uni and after etc. -Other half bout RAF operational role, current affairs, UN and NATO, what qualities do you have to offer, strengths weaknesses etc.

-Didnt really ask much bout hospitals. I want to do CCAST so I asked bout when I when I would be able to go on the course once in post. They expect you to know about what basic training involves too.

Hope that covers everything, as long as you do your home work about RAF and current affairs you'll be fine. They didnt even ask me about aircraft, tho I think it would be good to know about the aircraft you may well be involved with in aeromedical evacuation.

Good Luck x
ok. i havent really looked at current affairs yet, as im not going for officer and i wasnt expected to know any in my selection interview.

thats brilliant. thank you! if i can thing up any more i will. - ill PM you re: my topic choice for presentation and see what you think

Critical Care Air Support Team. It is basically aero med but specialising in repatriating critical care patients to the UK. Would be based at TMW at RAF Lyneham. I would probably have to wait a year before doing aero med traing from what i've heard.
Sounds fantastic!! go you! x
Well.. been down for selection board! i think it went ok.. I was pleased with my presentation anyway!

i should find out tomorrow or tuesday! x
