Pretty much EVERY Computer Science course is classed by the UCAS code G400 but I was looking at Liverpool Hope's Computer Science course but its I101.

This kinda has me worried because am I studying the exact same course as all the other Uni's? It just freaks me out because EVERY other Uni classifies their Comp Sci course as G400, so why is Liverpool Hopes I101?

Thank you.

Made a mistake, their Comp Sci UCAS code is I101. Still not the same as the others.

I think it differs depending on whether there are placement/abroad years, how long the degree is, type of qualification etc. A course code around G400 would indicate a typical CompSci course, so I guess this one is a bit different. Try emailing/phoning them and ask them why it's different.

Had a quick look at the course it has some modules in common with a traditional CompSci course but a lot of it is different, so you might wanna check that out on their website.

Just realised that the course itself isn't accredited by the British Computer Society which kinda has me worried, maybe thats why?

Probably, and it differs a lot in content to a standard CompSci course.

Would it not be worth applying there then? I'll start a thread about this later lmao.

The different codes are because of when they were given a code by ucas. And the fact that ucas is **** at coding so there’s inconsistencies all over the place.

Courses with identical codes and course titles can be vastly different. Courses with different titles and codes can be very similar.

Don’t rely on ucas to do your research for you. Research the contents of your courses yourself.

Hi KA99_ :hello:

PQ has offered some great advice. If you try not to pay too much attention to the UCAS code and research the course content itself, as long as you are applying with the correct codes. Each university will offer slightly different course content even if the course code is the same.

Hope's courses are linear rather than module based. You will study certain components throughout the whole course rather than studying a module at a time. Of course it will be beneficial for you to research which course best suits you so you can view the course content by following this link:
https://www.hope.ac.uk/undergraduate...mputerscience/

I hope this helps but of course if you have any further questions or concerns please do give me a shout.
