I am coming up to the end of my policy and I was wondering, at the end of the policy do my current insurance come out and remove the black box or do they deactivate it?

It spontaneously combusts. Leave the car. Save yourself!

No - it idles in the car and stops transmitting information. You will need to pay for its' removal, this should have been explained to you in your terms, so review your policy docs as the price will be in there too (ranges from around £90 to £200 depending on who)

I have had read mixed things about it Admiral says that you just leave it and they deactivate it but I am with Tesco there is nothing on the policy docs saying that they deactivate or that they come out to remove it.

with mine, they deactivated it after three months, but that was with Bell. You could call up ask your company because each company is different

I had the same policy with Bell a couple of years ago. Literally only had the black box for 3 months.

So they just deactivate it and you have to take it out yourself? The engineer that came to fit mine told me to go back in my house while he installed it so I couldn't see where he fitted it.

actually when i got the insurance they didnt tell me that they'd fit a box in, a few weeks later it came through the post and i was hella confused. Then three months later they emailed me to tell me to post it back and they reduced my insurance down a hundred pounds!

I wouldn't touch it personally, if you damage anything when removing it (hard to know how it was installed); you can't then blame it on them; you'll be paying for any repairs. Better to call whoevers responsible for the box (for example, for Co-Op it's Quartix, ask Tesco or check old emails to find the installer if unsure) and pay for them to do it. Take diagnostics before and after, that way if anything's broken - they're paying.

I rang my insurance last night and they said they I don't need to take it out as they can just deactivate it and it will not change anything

As I said previously, it sits idle at the end of the policy. Your question was about removing it.

Do they insure the car and let you drive it before the black box is fitted?
