Nottingham University- What is the area/city like?

I have had lots of mixed reviews about what the area surrounding the uni is like. Can anyone help me out?

Having lived there for 3 years on my undergrad and doing my MSc there, you've absolutely nothing to worry about. All the silly nicknames of Shottingham etc are decades outdated; I've never had any issue living there. You get the odd burglary or two in Lenton, a very student oriented town, but it's honestly no worse than any other major city.

As long as you exercise caution and don't do anything stupid/careless like leaving windows/doors open or unlocked, you'll be fine
