So I got my mock results back before Christmas and I feel like such failure, especially after going on TSR and reading about people who got all 8/9 in their mocks.

I was wondering what your mock results were, and if you have done them already, how your GCSEs compared to your mocks, and what you did to obtain those grades.

My mock results:

English Lit- 6 (I was the most upset about this one. I cried for a good few hours. I WAS 1 MARK OFF A 7 TOO!)
English Lang- 9
Geography- 7
German- 7
Science- 6 (I do double. Got a 6 in all 3 sciences)
Maths- 5 (Never been good at Maths. My worst subject.)
Spanish- 6
Drama- 6
History- 6

I am not saying a 6 is "bad" btw.

Mocks: Final Result
Maths: B:A*
English Lang: E: C
English Lit: D : D
Religous Studies: U : A*
PE: B : B
Media: B : A
Core Science: D : D
Additional Science: D : D
Computer Science: F : C
IT: D : A*
Overall: A*A*A*ABCCDDD

Went on to do A - Level Maths, Further Maths and Economics.

Lmfao. Bit of a slap in the face from my older bro. Stopped playing on the computer, turned off my phone, got out of a toxic relationship (can elaborate if you want xD)

Please tell me how you got yourself to revise, I am too addicted to my PC, phone and what not, how did you make yourself revise and just get better?

I won't lie mate; my parents and my older bro were a huge driving force. Even now on my gap year, I've cut out my PC starting this year, I mean I love CSGO and all that, but it just ruins my work ethic. It also has to be due to changing my revision style. The best thing that works for me is to go and grab an A3 piece of paper and to just write everything I know about a topic. Then, i go over it with a textbook/my notes, and I write everything I don't know/forgot in red. Really works for me atm, and I just keep doing that!

Looks like Ima have to lock my damn PC and phone in like a safe and throw it into the bottom of the ocean. Well thanks mate, I'll try and get better at my subjects and try what you did because that seems quite good writing down everything I know and adding what I don't know in red.

I am not saying a 6 is "bad" btw.

If you think that was bad, then i got
Eng lit - 8
eng lang - 6
History - 3
spanish - 3
science - (i did double) i got a 5, 4 and 2
maths - 5
Computing - 8 (kind of cheated tho XD cos really wanted to drop the subject)
Economics - E
The mocks are generally made to be hard and difficul and I found out, that when i did my GCSE's i ended up getting decent grades: two 8's four 7's three 6's, a B. So dont put yourself down cos they will debiterally make your mocks really hard to make your GCSE's seem easier. Also say your grades in the old grading system and you feel a load better about yourself, for example I got: a two A*, four A's, four B's. Personally, it sounds better than a 8, 7 ect

God damn, sexy grades and tbh my grades were quite similar and you did very good. Boss, secrets.

I think success is so subjective to each person which is what makes the comparison of grades so difficult but, as a rough guide my English teacher has told me that on average, between mocks and real exams, people tend to go up about 1-2 grades. Also, I think there's so much more pressure on real exams so I think that drives you for extra progression as well, I know it does for me, anyway. Hope this helps, good luck!

My mocks

Maths - 9
Biology - 9
Chem - 7 (******** test with no revision)
CompSci - 8
History - 8
RE - 8
ELang - 6
German - 6
Business - A*

I didn't do a physics exam b/c i was ill, but i probably wouldv'e got an 8/9. I got highest in the year for bio, history and compsci (i was like 2 marks off a 9 in it), and second highest in maths.

Probably need to start working on English and German lol. Bit annoyed with German as i got 7/7/8/8 in my last mock and got 7/6/6/6 in this one :frown:
I also slept in my second English exam because i couldn't be bothered - i got a 7 in the one i didn't sleep in and a 5 in the one i did

I also barely revised so it's all good yeah. Going for all 8s/9s - the only problem subjects are German and English.

In my actual GCSEs I got 8 9s (Maths, English Lit, English Lang, History, RE, Bio, Chem, Phys), an 8 (compsci), an A* (Business Studies) and a 6 (German)

Damn German

Reply 58

In my mocks; I achieved no 9s I think (I did Maths GCSE early). In real GCSE, I achieved 6 Grade 9s, 2 A*, 1 8 and 1 7.

Reply 59

Why is everyone a ****ing genius here😂😂 I'm getting 5 and 6's
