HELP - I'm bleeding inside! Boys may not want to read this.

I'm absolutely terrified. I went off for an STI test this morning (never having had one before) and I don't know what the woman did to me, but I'm bleeding badly now from up inside me. It's like having my period, except that it's bright red blood, and I've just finished my period anyway. I started bleeding right after she took the instrument out of me - the woman said she's never seen this happen before, especially as I looked clean on the inside with no trace of STIs (which frankly makes me feel even more scared, as she can't do anything about it). It hurt like a bitch when it was inside me as well. A few hours on, it's sore, but not painful, a bit like how you feel after bad, too-rough sex.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else? I'm so scared, I've had the worst few days of my life with an HIV scare (I did an instant test with a private doctor and luckily I'm negative) and now this is happening. I just want to cry, and I can't even talk to anyone about it as I'm away at uni, and there's only so much my mum can reassure me over the phone. If anyone can suggest anything at all, please help me.

Ouch, now that is is some problem. I really can't say. Perhaps your lining inside your vagina broke, which is why it was bleeding?

I hate to be the one to say it, but go to a doctor! Especially if it doesn't stop. This woman (was she a nurse or what?) shouldn't have just sent you away bleeding!

Just try to keep calm, it's probably just a little knick. If it continues bleeding, you'll have to seek further medical advice and tell someone about it, but most likely it will stop on its own soon.

my mum had something very similar, the doctors and nurses didnt know what it was, they said she was healty inside, there was nothing there, she was in hospital for a few days and then it stopped, im sure its nothing to worry about, as long as its not internal bleeding

Are you losing a lot of blood? If so I'd try to visit a doctor as soon as you can, but if it's not possible I'd keep a friend with you just in case anything happens (i.e. you pass out etc.) and keep an eye on the situation. How long ago did you have the test?

As long as its not a continuous flow of bright red blood for more than 24 hours, I would say just keep calm and if it doesnt stop within that time then just pop into your doctors or A and E department if the doctors is closed.
I had a similar thing after a smear, I had just finished my period but it must have nicked something and I had blood too.

agreed first off you should calm down a little. its easy to say but if youre panicking it will only make it worse.
its possible she just nicked you a little inside but its worth going to your docs or another medical place to get it checked out.

calm down, consult a doctor.

its not likely to be serious stuff or overbleeding or stuff like that. if you were overbleeding you wouldnt have been on the comp typing 6 hours after the incident.

but just go c a doctor. i daresay there might have been a slight scratch or sth within your vaginal walls..

I'd suggest seeking medical advice as soon as possible. This will ease your mind. I'm sure its nothing major to worry about, but the sight of blood will make you panic (especially in situations like this, because your not use to seeing it like this even though we're all made up of it! I freaked out when my bro cut his head open :|)

Anyhow I hope everything goes OK but I really advise you get some medical attention . I don't intend to scare you or freak you out , i suggest this so you mind can be at ease!

I don't know how she would have nicked me though - she put a long plastic hollow tube inside me (sorry to be graphic), so any tools could only have nicked right up by the cervix, yet the blood seems to be coming from nearer the entrance to the vagina.

I'm so so so sorry to be graphic, I'm just really desperate to know what this is! I'm trying to calm down, but every time I go to the loo to try and clean myself up the tissues get completely soaked with blood, so I'm feeling worse and worse.

I wonder if underneath one of the vaginal flaps, you have nicked it or it so tender that the tube just was too much for the skin and nerves after sex?

she shuldnt of sent you home bleeding. especially if she didn't know what it was. go and see a doctor if it gets worse but im sure after a few days it will soon stop. maybe she just did something by accident and made you bleed.
ok its hard not to worry but dont worry too much.
how long have you been bleeding for now? and is it alot? or just when you go to the toilet?
most of the time you shove something up there it makes your period come quicker.

Meybe the nurse or whoever that took the swab accidentally caused a cut or something and was embrassed to say it was her fault? It sounds like it's just a cut that will heal... just how much bleeding is it?

i would imagine it will stop within 24 hours of the sti check.

If it hasnt stopped by then, go and see a doctor but i'd imagine its just a knick or something.
