Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand's Prime Minister is excepting her first child with husband Clarke Gayford. The baby is expected in June, when Ardern will take 6 weeks off and during this time her deputy will take her place. Jacinda Arden will be the second elected world leader to give birth while in office, Benazir Bhutto gave birth to a daughter while serving as Pakistan's prime minister.

You can read more on the story here.

Congrats to the happy couple!

What are your thoughts?
My only thought is to congratulate her and her family on this journey.

Giving birth or being pregnant as a married woman is simply that; being pregnant. Nothing eventful for the press to make a big deal out.
I think it's disgraceful. This is a perfect example of why women shouldn't be allowed to be in positions of power and especially of leadership.

Just joking.🙂
Good luck to them it's an exciting time. I wouldn't describe myself as a progressive but is good news.
To have a problem with a serving pm having a child means that you could have a 5 or even a 10 year window, possibly her most fertile years, when she couldn't have children.
I wonder if they planned it at this time to make a point?
