Urinary Infection?

Hey,

Anon cos I'm quite embarressed :s-smilie:

I'm going to the Doctor on Monday, but just trying to figure out what he might say to me.

Basically I need to pee the minute I wake up. Like I basically need to run to the toilet in the morning (very problematic in student accommodation) and then even after I've been to the toilet I STILL need to go to the toilet.

I thought it was just exam stress with my uni exams. But now it's STILL going on. A few of my friends in 6th Form had a urinary infection and I think that I may have one...is it likely? Does anyone know how I could have got it? Could it be to do with my dehydration? And what is the treatment for it?

Does it sting when you pass urine?

It doesn't sting when I actually need to pee... only the times after where it just FEELS like I need to pee and I'm trying to FORCE myself to pee.

well, if you ar dehydrated drink more,

do you go to the toilet right before you go to bed?
occasionally if i wake up needing the toilet reeeally bad, after I've been it kinda feels like I still need to piss, but I don't..

seeing as you're going to the doctor, I'd just wait to find out then.
Try drinking cranberry juice and drink plenty of water. I would also suggest going to your pharmacist if you are in a lot of discomfort. I was told to take Cymalon (I think that's what it's called) and it cleared my infection up, but I wouldn't take that unless the pharmacist/ doctor believe that you have a urine infection...

Hmm usually with a UTI there is a stinging sensation when you go.

If you do have a urinary infection you may be prescribed a course of antibiotics/antibacterials for 5 days.

You can get it through transfer of bacteria from your anus, rough/vigorous sex, other causes too. I recommend you look up UTIs on google

Ok cool. I do try and drink lots of water and stuff, but I'm never a "thirsty" person - so don't really drink as much as I know I should. I pee just before I go to bed, cos I thought it was the same thing, but it happened every morning - and I was waking up early because of it!

It sounds like cystitis maybe? It's really common and you can buy medicine in boots. http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/diseases/facts/cystitis.htm
Does this happen just in the mornings or does it carry on throughout the day too? I sometimes have times when I need to go to the toilet more often than usual but it's also very clear when I have cystitis as I constantly feel the need to urinate, it hurts to do so and I get lower abdominal pains too.

As gLace has mentioned you can always buy "medicine" yourself if you think you may have cystitis. You can buy sachets of power from places like Boots but also the supermarket too that you just disolve in water. I find they are quite effective.
Edit: Sorry, double post due to laptop/internet problems.
It sounds like a UTI. Once you've been to the Doctors they will prescibe you a course of antibiotics and it will be gone with a week or so.

Wow. Power... in sachets!

OP - I'm not sure if you're a girl or a guy yet... but if you're a girl, it is fairly common to need to go more often if you're due, or on your period. It can also be quite painful for the same reasons. Does it happen literally every day, or is it possible that it's period-related?

It could be a UTI - they are generally accompanied by a stinging sensation, but it's not out of the question for you to have a UTI with no such symptom.

The best thing you can do between now and Monday is to drink plenty of clear fluids, and try to be near a toilet as often as is possible, as you'll be doing your body a favour if you can pass the urine as and when you feel the urge, rather than having to hold it in for a while. Hope you feel better soon!

Me too.. I had such a funny mental image, haha. Was even better when you went on to say you dissolve it in water.

Yay for typos!
