I haven't seen any posts about forensic applicants at UCLan so I've made one to find others who are applying to UCLan for forensic courses.
Which forensics course have peopled applied for at UCLan? Have you looked at accommodation?
I applied for criminal investigation, got my offer and accepted it. Not sure about accommodation yet.

Ahhh that's awesome! I think we've now got two different conversations on two threads ha ha, didn't see that you've already looked online before commenting on the other one. IQ looks nice online but I suppose you get a real feel for somewhere when you can look at it in person.

I'm a mature student (so they tell me at least) and I've applied for Forensic Science and Anthropology at UCLan. I'm a serving police officer so probably going to rent a house somewhere close to the university rather than go for Halls or typical accommodation. Wouldn't want to make anyone uncomfortable!

We shall see how it all pans out in the end, I can't wait!

I will admit, I'm a little on the apprehensive side. I've had some interesting altercations with students in the day job. It'll be weird to become a student again but I'm only 25 so it shouldn't be that bad, I'm sure most people on the course will be like minded!

I'm sure everything will be fine. If anything being in the police and being a bit older will mean that you're more sensible with money and drinking ha ha. If you don't mind me asking, what has made you change from being a police officer to doing an anthropology course?

The Anthropology part is just something I've always been interested in, so a mixture of that and forensics seemed like a good fit.

How about you, what's the draw to forensics and criminal investigation? Fancy a police career or something more specialist?

As for drinking, I don't do that anyway! I'll make a good designated driver, at least.

Well for the past 2 years instead of doing A levels I've done a forensic science BTEC just because nothing at A levels really caught my attention. The stuff we've been taught on this caught has made be realise this is something I really want to do as a career. I fancy maybe going into the police but I think I'd like to be more specialised so this course really caught my attention because it's more focused on the investigation part.

Ha ha if you don't drink you'll be popular as driver 😂. Really hope things go well x

Coincidence lol. The rooms were a good size and I wanted my own bathroom which they do at a good price compared to some of the other accommodations! I looked at a lot of their reviews and the majority of them were good😊 x

I'll say this much. I have worked in the police service for quite a while and some of our best Forensic Investigators are those that have studied at UCLan... that's the reason I'm starting there in September!

They have great connections with professionals in the industry and local police services, you should research the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy.

I might sound a little biased, but from my perspective, it's a good choice!

I've already been to an open day at UCLan and it seems fantastic I don't think it's because a mistake for you to come there. The tutors did say though that if you enroll on one forensic course such as forensic science but then end up realising you want to do another one like forensic science and micro biology that it's not really an issue to switch you in the first year cause they generally cover the same topic xx

    Hi everyone,

Think carefully about studying forensic science... it is very difficult to get a job once you have finished your degree and you most likely be doing a job which isn't related to it at all. If I could turn back time I would have done something else as it made me really depressed once I graduated as there was nothing. I worked incredibly hard and obtained a first class, but still no luck. Please think carefully whilst you still can!
