GSA: Statement of Intent

Hi...

many universities ask their applicants to attend an interview, where they also present a portfolio of drawings and art works. some of these universities also ask for a "statement of intent" along with the portfolio. for example, the Glasgow School of Art does. they asked me for a "statement of intent" which i find weird! has anyone applied there, or been invited for an interview?

i just dont understand it. why do they want another statement while they allready have my "personal statement" in Ucas??? i mean, how many statements are they willing to read! my personal statement should actually tell it all, and because of that im now stuck not knowing what to write, i dont think it should be identical to my personal statement

UCL also have a second personal statement, and it's bloody annoying (but they probably have their reasons).

If this statement of intent is basically a second personal statement, then my advice is to avoid repetition of things (especially mentioning academic achievement and extracurricular activities etc. again). I think they want it to be based more around you, your other interests and a more comprehensive explanation of your interest in the architectural field, which I suspect should be your main focus in this second statement. Or to elaborate on things you weren’t able to include in the first due to the limit set. Hope that helps.

Hey its just to expand on the UCAS statement, I wrote about a building i had recently visited and why I wanted to study at the Mac. I gives you a chance to demonstrate a knowledge of the school. I had my interview on the 18th of Jan and got an offer the following wednesday into 2nd year (currently work in design).

Hey, I was wondering how your statement of intent and interview went, I am currently applying for my first year of Architecture at the GSA. I've got an interview with them and the statement of intent also confused me a lot?
