It's not a bad place to study Architecture, it seems to have risen in the rankings over the last few years but isn't ever any higher than just within the top 20. While it's not the most prestigious school for Architecture specifically, UAL/CSM is very well respected as an art school, plus studying Architecture in London has its obvious advantages. However, I'm cautious of how societal/political their take is on architecture, but only because my interests don't lie in that area, so if yours do then you'll probably find the course very interesting.

Also just out of interest, what do you mean by it being worth the 'extra' money? Would you not be paying the same price wherever you go, or are you from Scotland in which case you'd be paying to go to UAL rather than a Scottish university for free?

Just the cost of living in London, and the political side is something I’m really interested in

If you're worried about the cost of living in London, to be honest only somewhere like The Bartlett (UCL) is truly worthwhile making that sacrifice for, unless you absolutely love the course at UAL. I'd suggest you find out as much as possible about the course there and even try to contact a current student, then decide if you love it enough to move to London for.

Where else are you considering applying?
