Hi please can you help me with this chem question
Diagram -
Naphtha -> process 1 (mainly alkenes with low Mr)
-> process 3 (additional polymers)
-> process 2 (branched alkanes, cyclic alkanes and aromatics) -> motor fuels
Question- give a name for process 1. State one essential condition in this process. Then write an equation to show how one molecule of an alkane C13H28 can be converted into two molecules of ethane, one molecule of propene and one molecule of an alkane.
Question 2
Process 2 produces branched-chain alkanes and cyclic alkanes from larger alkanes. Give a name for process 2. Draw one possible structure for each of the alkanes C5H12 and C6H12 which are produced in process 2. Name the alkane C5H12 which you have drawn.
Thanks for your answers, sorry it’s a long one.
