Yeah, I think so. He was very pleasant.

He'd have to have been so sweet to wait all that time. Why don't I ever find guys like this in cambridgeee?
Sweet? More like spineless. 15 minutes and I'd have been down the pub.

Hi all, haven't been on hear for a while, but when I saw the thread, I'd thought I'd better post. If any of you have any decent/funny blind date stories, can you e-mail them to TCS, they've said they'll do a big article on blind date for us if they get enough, they're also after photos if possible, and will guarnatee anonynimity if you want it for your stories (obviously not photos, that wouldn't work).

The reason I'm, asking is because I'm RAG chairman this year, so am trying to get us some good publicitiy in the student newspapers. The e-mail address is assistant-editor AT tcs DOT cam DOT ac DOT uk
Why only TCS and not Varsity? Surely RAG shouldn't be partial; I'd imagine that Varsity'd do an equally big story also.

Only TCS have asked us to ask people to get people to contact them for stories and photos. No such requests have come from Varsity, although, obviously if you want to send them to Varsity please do, but i don't know who the appropriate person is there. Also, last year Varsity didn't even acknowledge blind date happened, as it "wasn't newsworthy", I suppose only around 2,200 people did it...

Anyway, yeah, please e-mail both, just i have contact details for and have been specifically asked by TCS.
They did acknowledge it though, didn't they, they used it in an article about how they weren't confident of donating to RAG because they weren't sure where all the funds were going. It was complained about enough, so it seems strange that it'd be forgotten.

Nah that was an article about 2 weeks later, and was related to someone selling glow sticks a year previous to when the article was written
I thought it went on about Blind Date too, ah well.

Well, it mentioned it at the start as the initial motivation for the comment article, but that wasn't the main gist of the article.
Twice in a row I've specified *explicitly* on my form that I don't want someone who wants to go to a club/pub/bar. Twice in a row I've been dealt an Ents officer who isn't even aware that other places exist. Pfft.

How did yours go Puppy?

Surprisingly as Minimo said our two dates were really sweet. Too bad there was no romance but we all got along really well

I'm not trying to be funny, but where else might you plausibly go with your blind date apart from a pub or bar? Restaurant possibly, but it seems a bit much to force your date to have a meal out when they don't necessarily want the expense -- and then you have the question of where to go afterwards, with a pub or bar being the obvious answer.

Also, what's so wrong with pubs/clubs/bars?

Not that great, got on ok but it was just kind of pointless. Obviously I wasn't going to fall in love with a first year indie kid. It was decidedly underwhelming. Not sure why I bothered.

Could go bowling...although that is a bit of a walk

But yes, I do agree with what you said

I should have done it and bribed for you :p: Show you how extremely underwhelmed it's possible to be!

To be fair, there's not really anywhere else to go. There's punting and stuff, or the theatre or a film, but that's all I can think of; and with those there's no chance of conversation. Pah.

A creep how?

(not that it's much of my business, but someone else might be around)
