building a beer can tower is something that just has to be done when you first move in... until you realise a month or so in that they are actually horrible, and get knocked over that many times that there's no point rebuilding them!

Reply 21

and they stay rolling on the floor for ages untill the girls tell you to move them

Reply 22

can you have posters on the walls in your rooms? Coz i know some unis wont allow them? I just want to coz it would make me room look more homely

Reply 23

yeah everyone has posters up, its better than the breeze block white walls lol

Reply 24

yea but try and buy white tack instead of the normal blue stuff, then it doesnt leave a mark. At some of the accomodation they can be really sly and try and charge you £30 to have the wall painted

Reply 25

well some unis dont allow it at all.
Do you have people coming in to check your room also? Coz I also know people who get told if they get told twice to tidy up their room theyre out! But surelly if a person has paid for a room they can keep it how they want for a year?

Reply 26

Its not that strict round here, dont worry about it. In the student village they dont come and check your rooms at all. But anywhere else and its generally a room/kitchen inspection once a semester, so 2/3 checks during a year. Unless your rooms an absolute disgrace (rotting food/rats running around/drugs on your desk etc) then there's not much chance of you being told to leave. The most they do at the end of the year is charge you to have a cleaner come in.

Yeah, they do room checks. Some bint from the office charged in on me in the shower once. They are remarkably lax about security at the Junxion I'll say that.

Surely they have to knock? Its your personal space!!! You could have been walkin around naked or something.

Reply 30

You have room inspections in the student village now?! Thats ****, they never had them last year...
And yea they have to knock, but if she was in the shower and didnt hear, and the person knocking didnt know they were in the shower then its just an accident really. Besides, they normally give you a time, eg between 10am and 3pm when they're going to come round and do the checks, so its not really a great idea to go in the shower during those times anyway on inspection days.

Apply for halls.

In the first year I stayed there and it was great. So close to the university and there was a great "campus feel" to the place.

In the second year I made the mistake of moving in with friends to the Junxion. Just the sheer expense of the place makes your wallet tremble with fear.

Not to mention the poor Internet service provided, honestly I've never encountered such a bad service in my life, you'll experience weeks of no Internet without explanation and when it does come up, it's slow and cumbersome. Mezzino don't give a damn though, they put the Internet service under a "free" clause, so they can cover their backs as you're not paying for it.

This year I'm living in a house and it's amazing, so much better then the Junxion and you don't have to trawl up 6 sets of stairs to get to your room.

Reply 32

you could have used the lifts....

Reply 33

Sounds like halls is a safe bet then.
Sent it off a week or so ago now so I guess its just a waiting game now.
