Speaking of laundry, the laundrette in the Junxion has like 8 washing machines and 8 tumble driers. In a facility that has 600 bedrooms, hardly "fully equipped" eh?

You're better off getting a house, cheaper, own washing machine, a lot more freedom. Don't buy into that "security" bull**** either, most houses nowadays are fitted with double glazed windows and doors with double locks (+ locks on your room).

The Junxion just install a key-fob system and a few CCTV cameras and call it "secure" when in reality if you just stand around the entrance of the place and walk in behind someone who's opened the door, you're in and can steal whatever the **** you like.

i think the pavillions looked sexy and i know someone who is living in them at the moment who thinks theyr'e wicked... else i wouldn't have applied without knowing someone who gets on with them. Soo, i suppose they can't be awful, it could just be personal preferance?

awful, leaky roofs, cardboard walls, noisy stairways, bad internet, cheap fixings, excessive costs, poor management, small rooms... Yeah I could go on.

Don't be fooled by big tv's, flashy location and security pap. Lived there once, only way I'll go back is if I have no other options.

Reply 43

And I like their definition of security... anyone can have a key and if you ask nice enough the night porter lets you into any flat you like.

Reply 44

wow. I look forward to it. But are opinions/personal experiences sometimes exxaggerrrated slightly? Cause is some people love it and some people hate it then surely its probs in between

Reply 45

No exxageration, I lived in the place for one year.

The only advantage the junxion has is its location in relation to the university and the town centre.

The place is so expensive and you don't get value for money whatsoever. Living in a house is cheaper and gives you more freedom.

To be fair every place has a small amount of washers & tumble driers, in the brayford quay there's 6 of each (I think) between 2/300+ amount of people. Also, im actually sticking up for the junxions here even though I wouldnt live there myself... but it seems a hell of alot more safer there, you wont have a security guard/cctv cameras if you're living in a house... you just have to leave a window slightly open in a house and then thats bye bye laptop

Edit* oo also, who actually walks in behind someone and goes and steals stuff? Ive never heard of it actually happening. What are the chances of your flat & room door being left open, you not being in, and none of your flatmates noticing the randomer going into your room and walking out with your laptop? Although if you are stupid enough to leave both doors open and then go out, then you've got to expect somethings gonna happen one day I think!

Prices have been released recently, I will be going there in August as a 2nd year, do the whole student acc. with the uni first, had some quality times

But Junxion prices have gone up, whereas The Pavillions have frozen, despite them both being the same and run by the same company and Pavillions being newer??? Suppose im paying for location though, glass hosue and engine shed as a next door neighbour, cant go wrong aye?

Reply 48

oh and the whole laundrette being small thing, if ur clothes pong that bad, use the dishwasher  hahaha

Reply 49

Lol!

looks like i'll be with you mate! and i had never thought about using the dishwasher lol

On the subject of Laundry, only 3 of the eight washing machines in the junxon are working. Two smell like wet dog and one of fish.

Reply 51

we have 8 washing machines for the courts with about 900 students and on average two of them are out of order...

Reply 52

Is The Junxion the place opposite Debenams cafe?

Reply 53

yea

Reply 54

Ah it looks alright although the windows seem really close together, like the rooms are really tiny or something. Also noted that 80 % of the rooms still had their curtains closed at like 2 in the afternoon lol

Reply 55

thats because students live there lol

EDIT : there either to lazy to open them or there to lazy to get out of bed!

Or because it's rather disconcerting to get out of the shower, as naked as the day you were born, and have a couple of penisioners regarding you in a rather bemused manner over their breakfast

You'll be dieing to get out when you realise how woeful their internet service is, I can guarantee there will be days, if not weeks, of downtime and the staff at the reception literally don't give a damn. So if your course relies on having access to the Internet (i.e. for blackboard etc) you're going to be screwed.

Reply 59

could always go to the library or archy building which is open 24 hrs anyway?

if you really needed it for your course
