What is the difference between an act, a law, and an amendment?

Does the US have one Federal Supreme Court all over the US or every state has its own supreme court?

An act is a bill that has been passed by the house of representatives and the senate. An amendment I believe is usually to the constitution. Law is more of a general term as I understand it. I'd assume there's a difference in voting numbers required to pass bills compared to amendments.
