Student Finance Watch
I have a disability and currently receiving disability allowance. How does student finance process disability allowance to make sure I can still survive well whilst pursuing my studies?
Students who are eligible to receive State Benefits. These students are eligible for an increased amount of Maintenance Loan. They will receive their regular Maintenance Loan along with the Special Support Element. These students will need to provide evidence to show their in receipt of state benefits before the Special Support element of their loan is awarded.
You can also apply for the Disabled Students Allowance when you make your application.
The Disabled Students Allowances (DSAs) can help towards additional costs students may face as a result of their disability, long term health/mental condition or a specific learning difficulty.
The DSAs will be in addition to the student finance package; it is non repayable and does not depend on the household income, but will depend on the students Study Needs Assessment which helps us determine the support the student needs to carry out their studies.
