Undergraduate Law course University of Reading vs University of Southampton? watch

    • Thread Starter

Frankly to say I cannot decide. I got an unconditional offer from both unis. UOS is a Russel Group member, whilest Reading is ranked higher. I tried to do some research but I cannot find any relevant answers. The main modules I'd like to study are international law and/or financial law.

Forget about the rankings. Southampton is the better law school in terms of rep, academics and academic rigour. More commercial, too, so if you wanna sell your soul to the City, you'll be set to go.

Southampton has many international commercial law specialists, exploring maritime and letters of credit. I do not think it has a particular finance specialism, but your education there will be more closely aligned with finance than at Reading.

You're honestly the first person I've seen express an interest in anything that is vaguely commercial in a law degree before the first three months or so (i.e. before job hunting begins). Most people come to uni to read about human rights and Irish prisoners and all that. It's only when they hear about law firm salaries that they start getting wobbly about Basel III and security charges on land and whatnot.

    Notorious is right.
Do you agree with the proposed ban on plastic straws and cotton buds?
